Apple’s new iPhones will be introduced sometime in September, and many details about them have been leaked.
But the iPhone 14 will likely be the world’s first smartphone to send text messages without a cellular signal or Wi-Fi.
There were reports of a satellite connectivity feature for iPhones last year, but it didn’t make it to the iPhone 13 series.
A report from MacRumors has suggested that Apple may introduce the satellite connectivity feature in the iPhone 14 series in September.
The report cited tweets from satellite communications consultant Tim Farrar.
These tweets indicated that T-Mobile and SpaceX have recently announced a partnership for satellite connectivity with Apple regarding this potential new feature.
Apple will be partnering with Globalstar for this purpose. The satellite connectivity feature is also hinted at from the tagline ‘For Out’ of the iPhone 14 series event scheduled for September 7.
In February, Globalstar announced that it had purchased 17 new satellites to provide satellite services to one customer.
This user is probably the Apple company.
Tim Farrar said that the service will be provided by Apple for free and is currently available for two-way text messaging.
The feature was first reported in December 2019, and a report in 2021 said that it could become part of the iPhone 13 series, but it did not.
A report said that two satellite features would be added to the iPhones, one for messages and the other for direct reporting in emergencies.
It should be noted that Apple will likely introduce four iPhones on September 7.
The iPhone 14 will have a 6.1-inch display, the iPhone 14 Max will have a 6.7-inch display, the iPhone 14 Pro will have a 6.1-inch display, and the iPhone 14 Pro Max will have a 6.7-inch display.
A leak claimed that the Pro models this time around will also feature an All-Ways On Display mode feature, which will be a first for an iPhone.
The iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max will be the first iPhones since 2017 to not feature a notch design for the selfie camera.
